Write in Middle English (1300 medieval)

I have no knowledge of the history of the English language and I planned for an uneducated (fantasy-less) protagonist in the first person.
The problem is that writing in the first person requires that the entire book be written in Middle English. Or at least it seems to be written in Middle English.
I am aware that dialogue will be a problem either way, but should I write in the third person to avoid the language barrier? My book is very much based on the character of repentance and redemption.
