The almost foolproof way to write a sales letter

If you’ve written a book or have a product to promote online, writing a sales letter can seem like a big task.

Sometimes it may seem almost impossible to know where to start, making it easier to break it down into 5 basic components. In this way, it makes writing a sales letter quick and easy.

Essentially, a sales letter is made up of 5 different parts:

  • Vault

  • Opening

  • History

  • Bullets

  • Close (ask about the sale)

So all you have to do is write each of the parts (in any order) and then put them together.

This makes it very easy to do and this is how you do it:

Vault. Although this is the beginning of your sales letter, you don’t have to write it first. Sometimes you come up with a great idea for a header as you write the rest of your sales letter. But just remember that it helps if your header contains some kind of benefit to the reader. Your title doesn’t have to sell anything. His only job is to attract attention and make the reader want to continue reading.

Opening. This, again, doesn’t have to be the first or even the second thing you write. You can always come back later. But what you have to do is tackle a problem your reader may have so that they can say, “Have you ever …” or “Isn’t it difficult when …” or “It is difficult to find a great book on .. . “Anything you write in your opening should attract the emotions of your reader.

History. This is where you tell a story about the product or how it helped someone or how it could help them if they buy it. Studies have shown that we learn more from the information given to us as a story, so probably people used to teach using parables.

Bullets. This is a list of bulleted benefits that the reader can expect to receive once they use your product. It can be a long list or several short lists divided by a paragraph or two of text to expand one of the bullets.

Close. This is where it wraps everything up and requests the sale. You can enter more information or simply condense everything you have already said.

And that is. These are the five parts of an almost foolproof way of writing a sales letter. You don’t have to write them in that exact order. Just start with what is easiest for you to do. Then simply assemble them in the correct order.

Just remember to ask for the sale at the end and, if you can, tell them a reason to buy right away, like “this cheap price won’t last long” or “there aren’t many left in stock.”

And also remember that it is not just at the end of your sales letter that you tempt your readers to buy.

Everything you write has two jobs. To keep the reader reading and stirring excitement so that when they get to the end of their sales letter, they are excited and desperate to buy what you are selling.

No one buys something without emotion, so find out what you want and tell them why they should buy it.
