How do writers deal with questions about inappropriate things they need to know for their book?

Hello everyone, it is good to see such an interesting community! First of all, I hope I have asked my question correctly and clearly, because English is not my first language. Secondly, yes, how do you ask other people about strange things? How do you look for it on the internet, or maybe in libraries? I always wondered how writers know for sure how to describe murder or things like that. Right now I am struggling as I have a great need to find information for my story, but somehow I am ashamed to ask / search about it.
Are there people dealing with the same thing? How do you overcome something like this? What advice can you give, if possible?
