How do you write a character that travels a distance?

The title says it all. How do you write a character who travels from point a to point b in a part that isn’t very important to the main story? Whether it’s 10 miles or 100 miles. Did you just do a massive time jump? Or do you fill the short or long trip with important things that happened? The title says it all. What is the deal with the publication?

I’ve been investigating how people publish books traditionally vs. Self-publishing for beginners. After analyzing what is best, it seems that I simply cannot reach any conclusions.

In traditional publishing, most agents are extremely demanding, and if you do, most writers do not earn their advance. Seeing that writers earn less than 10% per book sold, it is a long way where they can earn a lot of money with it, much less make a living with it.

As for self-publishing, this applies especially to authors for the first time, it is more likely to earn less than what you spent on editing, reviewing and designing it. There is also the possibility that if you try to publish it Traditionally after having previously published yourself, the Publishers will find your work failed and reject it.

So what does it give? Is this a type of lose / lose scenario? Because if it is really so difficult to publish and take advantage of it, why bother writing first?

I’m sure there must be some way that this can work out well, so I decided to ask them how the hell I can get some kind of little career writing novels. Because sure as hell seems like a nuisance.

Thank you!
