While writing your summary of qualifications, try to be differentiating, profit-focused and specific. Be careful not to make the mistake of writing one that is so general that it can be applied to anyone who does the type of work you do. You should show your differentiators and distinctive qualifications instead of just the basic qualifications that are common and expected in your profession. After reading the summary, the reader should leave with a lucid image of how exactly it would fit in the company and how it will add value. Edit clichés and jargon. When writing the rest of your resume, never forget that it is a marketing document intended to sell as the perfect candidate for your target position. Instead, you should highlight your most relevant experience, qualifications and achievements that you offer for the position you are addressing. Don’t just include content to fill the page space. Make sure each word has a purpose. While you must be meticulously honest, you can be selective. Simply eliminate the emphasis or omit unrelated data that does not help your cause.
