How do you write a character that travels a distance?

The title says it all. How do you write a character who travels from point a to point b in a part that isn’t very important to the main story? Whether it’s 10 miles or 100 miles. Did you just do a massive time jump? Or do you fill the short or long trip with important things that happened? The title says it all. When writing multiple POVs, does everyone need to have the same enemy or can they each have one?

I really want to include 2 POV in my book, but I’m not sure if the various enemies will work. Here is my ish plan:

MC 1 will start to be an ally with MC 2’s enemy. MC 1 will start to have a different enemy, but towards the end this enemy joins MC 2’s enemy and the 2 MC unite and get a common “enemy team” .
I tried to make it as confusing as possible heh. Do you think it would work or do you need to have a common enemy from the start? Will there be a problem if MCs are enemies for most of the book?

Edit: Thanks for all the comments everyone appreciates, much appreciated❤ From what I’ve read, it seems like this can work as long as you keep the voices of the characters different and their personalities different, as well as their stories affect each other and continue together very well towards the end.
If my description of enemy / ally dynamics is confusing, I’ve written a longer description in one of the comments, and I’d love to hear your comments about it! Otherwise, thanks for your time and the pen is always in your favor;)
