Want to know how to make money writing online?
When I set out to make money writing online, I did it because I wanted the freedom to be my own boss, work from home and do something I already loved doing. I only had one problem: I had no idea how to start. Actually, it took me a good five years until I had enough stable work to keep me financially stable and continuously improve my standard of living.
In this article, I will provide some of the things I found in my search to live an independent life and do something that I love to live: write.
1) Choose a niche
When he says: "I want to make money writing online," there are so many options available, which can actually be quite confusing. There are blogs, copywriting, SEO, brand development, article writing, ghost writing, technical writing and more. I have done each and every one of these things throughout my freelance career, and it is safe to say that most people will eventually end up diversifying to develop a more complete portfolio and a more complete customer base. However, it is extremely important to make sure you have a niche at the beginning.
I didn't have a niche when I started, which means I was requesting all kinds of work I could find. However, later, when I developed a niche, I discovered that it was much easier to get a job. My particular niche focuses on brand writing and marketing: this includes writing promotional copies such as brochures, scripts, advertisements and more, as well as creating slogans, slogans, trade names and product names.
I discovered that I enjoyed writing a short copy much more than I enjoyed writing long articles or writing complete ghost books. Finally, I reached the point of being able to charge much more money for small projects that didn't take me too long because I grew my reputation in that particular niche.
When you are starting, decide what you want to do. If you want to write articles about things that interest you, develop your portfolio in that direction and focus on getting that type of work. If you want to write scripts, develop your portfolio in that direction. Just make sure you're not one of those people who say "I'll do it all" because being selective is better: the riches are in the niches.
two) Job offer every day
Of course, to earn money writing online, you must find work, and that is the biggest problem that most people face, so I am going to give you a list of the sites I use every day:
* * Elance : Elance is my number one resource and that is why it is at the top of this list. It is the best place to get writing jobs online. If you've never been to Elance, it's quite simple: people need to do a job, so they publish what they need and provide a budget (say between $ 500 and $ 1,000), then people like you send proposals for that job.
One of the main reasons why freelancers don't get the volume of work I get from Elance is because they don't offer every day. They will continue a few days a week and will bid for some jobs. If you really want to succeed, you must bid every day because new jobs are published every day.
* * Guru : Guru is my second in line. I have memberships in these two places. I don't get as many jobs in Guru as I do with Elance, but I offer them both every day. Doing this ensures that I have a constant flow of customers and income that they enter daily. Without this constant flow of projects, you can never live comfortably at home.
When it comes to making money writing online, it doesn't matter if you are new to the writing game and you only have a little idea of what you are doing, the only way you are making money is to start bidding on jobs and win clients consistent. As your portfolio improves and diversifies, then you want to start increasing your prices. Eventually, your ranking of Guru and Elance members will increase, customers will begin to approach you due to referrals, and within six months you will have the constant work you need to succeed and really make a living writing online.
3) Stay away from mass writing jobs
Many people recommend that you write for sites that will pay around $ 2 to $ 10 for each 300 to 500 word article. At first, this sounds great: they will say you get 20 items a day and you earn $ 200 per day.
This is the worst thing you can do. First, the money is not worth it. Writing is a creative field and your creativity cannot simply generate ideas as an assembly line. I tried these kinds of jobs for a while and they burned me and made me hate my job. Unfortunately, many people who want to make money writing online think that this is the only option available. It is not. As a writer, you should be able to earn $ 200 for an hour of work.
