It’s really a shame that most creative hobbies and pursuits are, at their core, solo activities. I’m a very creative person with less than stellar social skills, so most of what I do is done alone. I play guitar alone, I crochet alone, and most of all, I write alone. I’m sure most of you do too, but it gets to me sometimes. Part of what has kept me focusing more time on Fanfiction than I probably should is the sense of community. You can share what you’ve written with other people, you can read other people’s stories, discuss theories and ideas and exchange writing tips.
But I really love writing original fiction too. I love the world and characters I’ve crafted. There are things I’m proud of, and other things not so much. Writing is just a huge part of my life, I write every single day (well, I miss a day here and there) and it’s one of my favorite things, I just wish it wasn’t such a lonely craft. I’ve tried to find groups on FB, none of them are terribly active. There are no creative writing groups in my area IRL. Every single time I’ve sought a writing partner, someone comes in all gung-ho and then slowly ghosts me before we even start discussing the story. I’ve posted in critique forums and never get feedback, good or bad.
And then the communiyies I do find, I feel like I just don’t fit in. I did write every single day in November into December, for hours, yet I feel like I don’t match up. I don’t know how to explain it. 
Is it just me? Have any of you found ‘your people’ or is writing forever a solo thing?
