How do you write a character that travels a distance?

The title says it all. How do you write a character who travels from point a to point b in a part that isn’t very important to the main story? Whether it’s 10 miles or 100 miles. Did you just do a massive time jump? Or do you fill the short or long trip with important things that happened? The title says it all. Tips to start writing screenplays?

Hi everyone, a bit of my backstory, I’m a 22 year old guy, living in London and working in digital marketing. When I was younger I made short films for fun and one was even nominated for a couple of awards (without winning) at a small film festival. I recently started doing stand-up comedy and I loved the writing process and I loved playing it, but I’m not interested in pursuing that beyond a hobby. Like I said, I loved the writing process and would really like to get some experience in a writer’s room to see if it’s something I enjoy and would like to pursue. I always loved writing scripts when I was younger (although they were probably horrible haha). Does anyone have any ideas or tips they can share on how to get that initial experience to see if it’s something I enjoy in my career? Apologies if this whole post seems naive, just thought I’d ask in the hope someone might recommend a program, course, or just a general direction to follow. Thanks!
