writing induced mania

My writing practice is still nascent at best: most of what I have to show so far is loose character profiles, scene notes, and some story outlines with some world building. That said, my notes can get pretty detailed, and I’ve found that sometimes at night (after my stimulants have worn off) when I start to dig into an idea, I can feel my blood pressure rise, my jaw clench, and I even feel sluggish. break. a sweat, and the details come faster than I can write them down. It’s a mentally interesting place, and I feel like I should be able to take advantage of it more regularly and earlier in the day, but I don’t think I can do anything if I skip my meds. As I said, this seems like more of a feeling of energy and is not drug related. Do any of you have a similar experience with this, and is it something you’ve worked on in your process? What does that look like and what methods do you use to induce yourself and then get out of that state?
