How do you write a character that travels a distance?

The title says it all. How do you write a character who travels from point a to point b in a part that isn’t very important to the main story? Whether it’s 10 miles or 100 miles. Can extreme views still be used or should I go for something more moderate?

Good morning, short explanation. In my story about the year 2091, a far-right coalition is supposed to rule the earth. Instead of fighting human races, they fight alien races. Now I was wondering if it was still allowed to make such a point today. Personally, I wanted to incorporate the theory that “history always repeats itself” in my book. But personally I’m not sure if such a plot point doesn’t hurt more today. I have already received comments on this idea which is too extreme. It would glorify something or propagandize for the right wing, although in history the right wing government is one of the antagonists. To briefly summarize the question: is it perhaps better to take a moderate path (for example, a very conservative government) to get ahead of a possible bullshit storm and weird discussions? PS This question can also be seen in general, if extreme opinions should in general be excluded and replaced by moderate ones.
