Would it seem strange to you that your partner refused to read your work?

I see this so often and each time I think I would be surprised if my partner showed no interest in my writing. I understand that they may prefer other genres for their entertainment, but my writing is the product of my intellect and emotion, how come my partner is not interested in interacting with them? Or discover what inspires me, or even discover my thoughts on some philosophical questions. If we are long-term partners, then we have a lot in common intellectually, don’t we, even though not all of our interests are shared? I can’t imagine having an artist partner and not wanting to see his paintings or having an acting partner and never wanting to see his movies. However, in these discussions I often feel like I’m the outsider who thinks that when it comes to writing. Is there anything that makes writing different as an art form?
