I started my first draft about nine months ago and, among other responsibilities, I have managed to complete eighteen chapters, with about six to finish. But now, because of all the time I spent with the draft, I have great ideas that would completely alter the course of history. It feels silly to keep writing a first draft that is full of plots that are not what I want now to continue with a different story than the one I have in mind. I want to ditch the first draft and start over with my new ideas, but I’m worried that the same thing will happen again – that I will get other ideas and keep rewriting my story instead of completing it. Then what should I do? Go ahead and finish the first draft, or start over?
