How do you write a character that travels a distance?

What have I done that I can write about?

So basically now I’m realizing that I haven’t done much in my life. I have to write a short story about a real life event for an assignment. I need to think of 3 things, which makes it more difficult since I can’t even decide on one. My family has not been very helpful. Obviously you don’t know me personally, but can you think of a common event / achievement that most people can write about in their lifetime? Even sharing some of the events in your own life would be helpful. Thanks so much for reading!
