Hello! Novice writer here. A big goal of mine is to finish a novel story one day. I’ve been writing and experimenting with short stories to help build that writing muscle. I started developing several stories that I thought had novel potential, but I find myself stuck during the planning process before I even start. I have a little confession. I got so frustrated trying to create original work that I completely stopped. I finally put out an old fanfiction piece of mine and haven’t been able to stop since. Hell, I even hope to write at the end of the day. It has been a great practice, I have been able to identify my strengths and weaknesses when it comes to the technical aspects of writing. I realized that it is much easier when you know what is supposed to happen, who the characters are, etc. So my question to you seasoned writers is, how much do you build the world before you start writing? How much of the plot have you already solidified? How well do you know your characters? How do you organize your thoughts before writing, bullets, lists, random notes on napkins? How do you do the thing
