Hey, I’m not sure if that’s the right place to ask, but I hope it is. I am writing a story with many dialogues with many speakers. Usually at least 3 people talking, up to 10 or so. And I have a certain problem. How do I keep track of who said what, so readers can understand the correct flow of the conversation? So far, the only solution I have is to keep typing the name (or a short description) of each speaker: * “This is a sample dialogue,” said John. “And this is an answer,” added the woman. * But … after a while, it seems strange. It seems strange because each character’s name appears every few lines (or synonym). Do you have any advice or experience related to that? When I watch most novels they usually have dialogue between a smaller number of people and can get away with not remembering who says what on each line … PS English is not my main language, sorry for the weird words.
