Hello everyone, the title says it all. I’ve heard several people recommend targeting “rejection targets” rather than acceptance targets (ie “I’ll get a hundred rejection letters this year”). But even in terms of rejection letters, I feel like I’m falling behind. I made my first presentation about a year ago and since then I have received 14 rejections and three acceptances. I know this isn’t terrible, but it feels like I’m a far cry from the whole Stephen King thing that “nail falls off the wall with reject blades.” Any advice on how to complete / finish stories more regularly? I do about 1k words a day, 2k if I’m not editing anything, but no matter how much I work on them, my stories never seem to have submission-level quality. What works for you? Is there a specific point where I need to stop editing? Anyway, thanks for the help. Really looking to break through the writing game; I would appreciate any advice.
