Do you find yourself constantly going back and rewriting parts?
So I had this idea for a book for about 2 years. When I first came up with the idea, I had a very vague and vague outline of how the story was supposed to be and eventually lost interest and writing a book turned into a pipe dream that I was sure I would never properly fulfill. The amazing thing is that since 2020 it has been so crazy that I decided to take what is happening in real life and merge it with the story and now I have such a good idea that it feels like lightning in a bottle and the book is now writing. in itself because I know what happens at the beginning, in the middle and at the end. Here’s the problem … I’m not that good of a writer, but I can write really fast. I used to message people on Facebook and if something big or crazy was happening in my life, I would message my friends and quickly write these wordy messages telling them what was happening and a lot of them would say that I was really good at being. descriptive and always found my posts entertaining. So I’ve had people tell me I should be a writer. When I sit down and write, everything feels forced and when I go back and reread paragraphs I find that my writing feels clumsy and youthful. Since it’s my first book, I thought I’d best make it into a coming-of-age story that takes place in a high school so maybe I can be a shitty writer since I’m writing from a young person’s point of view . Sometimes when I go back I find myself trying to perfect entire paragraphs and when I’m done I start to think it’s nice and polished but if I quit and come back weeks later I start doing it again because it never feels right or something. The problem is, this idea I have is an idea in a million … but unfortunately, my youthful writing skills will likely have a negative effect on the overall story. So I don’t know if I should write it without constantly going back and trying to perfect it or not … I’m even having trouble writing this Reddit post.
