How do you write a character that travels a distance?

How can I structure sentences without starting with conjunctions? Especially with limited time to do this?

I have been instructed not to start sentences with conjunctions for an assignment I am working on. This is giving me flashbacks of high school when I had to do this. My sentences often ended up reading terribly. However, unlike how it was in high school, I care a lot about this current assignment and want everything to sound good, but I don’t know how without the use of conjunctions at the beginning of certain sentences, ironically. Any advice?
