How do you write a character that travels a distance?

The title says it all. How do you write a character who travels from point a to point b in a part that isn’t very important to the main story? Whether it’s 10 miles or 100 miles. Did you just do a massive time jump? Or do you fill the short or long trip with important things that happened? The title says it all. Two characters in a first-person POV story who speak a different language than the one MC understands

Maybe my fu-search is bad today, but I couldn’t find an answer to this exact question so I’m posting here … The story is first person POV with the MC / narrator speaking and understanding English only. Two supporting characters, ‘A’ and ‘B’, are yelling at each other in Japanese, and the MC hears him but doesn’t understand (which means that, logically, I can’t write the yells in English). I can’t get them to fight in English because character ‘B’ only speaks Japanese. Is there a way I can handle this scene without breaking the MC’s first-person point of view? Can I change POV characters to character ‘A’ for just one scene? I don’t want to use a trick like the MC saying “later, I found out they said this to each other …” I’m stumped. Thinking?
