How do you write a character that travels a distance?

The title says it all. How do you write a character who travels from point a to point b in a part that isn’t very important to the main story? Whether it’s 10 miles or 100 miles. Did you just do a massive time jump? Or do you fill the short or long trip with important things that happened? The title says it all. Do all writers suffer from writers block or only those whose goal is to get published / make money?

I’ve heard some people say that the cause of writer’s block is the fear that their story isn’t good enough for some reason. My question is, does writer’s block only affect writers trying / wanting to get published or does it also affect people who write for fun or therapy? I guess writers who write in hopes of making money and getting published are afraid that people will reject their story and that is what causes the mental block. Do people who write for fun, who don’t care if their story ever ends because they won’t publish it, have this mental block? I don’t think they have the same fear as those who want to make money or be published. The same question goes for those who write because it is therapeutic for them, do they also have writer’s block?
