Writing project change
I like to write stories. I always have and I hope it always is. Last year I started a book, I planned it and all, but it seemed doomed from the start as I didn’t really like it for the entirety of my writing, but was determined to finish it. Finally, I gave up because I didn’t like him too much. It was a fantasy. The world didn’t develop at all and I didn’t plan it right, probably because I hate planning and find that I write better without it. I tried too hard to stick to my plan, so now I’ve decided to write a space opera because I love Star Wars. I am opting not to have a plan this time as my previous project was planned and it was horrible – all the other unplanned stories have always gone well and I have enjoyed writing them. A plan is too rigid and restrictive, but I also think that the space opera sub-genre should also give me more freedom. Obviously, Star Wars will be a huge influence, although my ideas will be original (or as original as possible). So my question is, should I continue with the original book (fantasy) or space opera (I have written 1500 words without editing so far)?
